Red Cross Café

What does the activity involve?

The Red Cross Cafés is a new offer under Red Cross Copenhagen, that seeks to create a safe and nice environment for people that are new in Denmark. The Cafés functions as a social meeting place for both children and adults, where the volunteers encourages meaningful togetherness, activities with the children, and can be helpful with practical and informal questions about their everyday life in Denmark. Furthermore, does the Cafés give an opportunity to meet others who are in the same situation and create a network in Denmark. The Red Cross Cafés wants to meet the need the visitors have, and can therefore have language practice and communal dining.

Who are you helping?

Newly arrived refugees, both adult and families.

What are we expecting of you?

As a volunteer you will be a part of operating the Café you are connected to and start different activities. Vi expect that you thrive with and can see yourself in different tasks. It could be the practical work in the Cafés (making coffee and serving tee and snacks), that you have IT-skills, can help the visitors find information, and practice their Danish etc. The Cafés can sometimes be busy, so it is a plus that you can stay calm and keep an overview. If you speak languages as Ukranian or Russian it is a plus.
